Student Absences

College classes - Students will need to communicate with their professors ahead of time for planned absences and as soon as possible for unplanned absences.

High school classes and advisories - Parents will need to call the office at 742-8900 or email AMCSattendance@asdk12.org to report their child's absence

• According to the Anchorage School Board Policy 443 (b), the following conditions may result in an excused absence from school:
  • illness
  • death or serious illness in the immediate family
  • participation in a school function
  • extenuation circumstance approved by the principal, and
  • attendance at religious service

Unless the parent/guardian is able to excuse the absence according to Board Policy 443 (b), the absence will be unexcused.
